Recent Work: Red Wine Poached Pears

I’m bringing back this classic oldie but goodie from the archives.

Red Wine Poached Pears. This was one of my favorite shoots ever, and I think it’s high time we brought it back. I love pears, and I love red wine, so combining them together for a sweet and savory treat was a no-brainer. The contrast in texture between the soft poached pears and crunchy granola is incredible; plus it looks beautiful!

The colors in this image are absolutely stunning. The white background really helps the colors pop off the page. The red wine-poached pears were the perfect color ever—a ruby red gemstone!

The minimalistic aesthetic kept the focus on the pears and the action of wine pouring from the spoon. Using bold colors and high-key lighting helped create a sense of energy and drama and gave the photo a dynamic and modern feel. I kept the props very simple because then everything would look cluttered. The only props I used were a silver spoon and a stack of white plates. I kept the stack of plates in the background off to the side to again, stay focused on the pears.
