What’s In My Camera Bag? A Peek Inside.

I get asked this question all the time “What’s in your camera bag?” I thought it would be fun to showcase what’s in my camera bag, so here it is.

In my camera bag: Canon 5Dsr

Let’s start with the camera I use. I upgraded to the Canon 5Dsr in 2017 after landing a big client. I wanted something more professional than my Canon 70D (a great starter camera!), and this was my first purchase of a professional camera system.

I can’t say this enough: I LOVE my camera. It shoots great photos in low light, has more megapixels than I will ever need for anything, and is all-around a fantastic camera.

The “go-to” lenses I use

When I started as a food photographer, I wanted to (and tried to) get my hands on every single new, most expensive lenses. 

In photography school, I borrowed just about every lens that existed. At the end of it all, I fell madly in love with three lenses. Yup. Just three. 

Canon 50mm: I call this wonderful lens my “nifty fifty” because it’s a workhorse that gets the job done so well. 

Canon 100mm: This lens is my all-time favorite. I’ve said before that I love close-up macro shots, and this lens lets me get in super close.

Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8: For the longest, I was a Canon gal all the way, but after one shoot with this Sigma lens, I got to like it. I use this lens for interior restaurant shots and large flat lay photos.

Accessories I use

On-Location: 

• Four batteries
• My SD card carrying case
• My Godox external flash

In-Studio

• Battery Adapter (no more camera dying midshoot!)
• USB tether cords
• Bongo ties

General

• Light meter
• Color wheel
